Spring 2022 Jiu Jitsu Times
Team Tournament-April
Our team will participate in a tournament April 16th. The tournament will be held by Grappling Industries and will be in the Salt Lake Area. If you would like to participate, you can register here: https://grapplingindustries.smoothcomp.com/en/event/5502
If you have any questions, please reach out to Coach Eric. The divisions will be broken out by sex (M-F), age range, rank, and weight. When you register, please select Peak Fitness BJJ as your academy.
To help prepare for the tournament, on Fridays, we will have a Tournament prep class. This class is for all who will participate in the April tournament. This class will be a fast pace and high intensity class. Please come focused and prepared to work hard. We will be pushing everyone to be conditioned for the tournament.
Women’s Self Defense Class
We have had a couple requests for a women’s only self defense class. I would like to gauge interest in this. If we have enough interest (at least 10 women signing up), I was thinking of having a women’s self defense class every Saturday morning at 9am. We will follow the Gracie’s Women Self Defense program with additional items I have learned through years of training and seminars. We just cannot advertise the Gracie program as I would need to pay them $500 a month to do so and 30% of all student dues. The class will teach you how to be aware of situations, prevention, and how to defend oneself against male attackers. The cost would be $30 a month or included in the family rate.
New Family Rate
Our goal is to provide Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to as many as we can in the valley because we feel BJJ provides so many benefits to help strengthen one’s character.
We have had several requests for a family rate, allowing all members of a family to participate in BJJ. Starting in March we will have a new family rate at $175 a month. This will cover all family members in a household. Looking at an average family size in Star Valley of 5, using our individual rates, the monthly cost would be $290 a month. If we looked at a family of four, the cost would be $230. This is a great deal. While some might think $175 a month is expensive for BJJ, please know that most other BJJ schools charge $150 to $170 a month per person. We do not charge these high costs because we would rather ensure as many can have the opportunity to learn and practice BJJ.
Team Communication
I want to make sure all team members receive any communication from me regarding the team. This includes class updates, announcements, reminders, or changes to the schedule. I want to ensure everyone gets these types of communication. Please ensure you join our GroupMe chats to get team updates. You can join by downloading the GroupMe app from the Apple or Google Play store. Once installed, scan the QR codes below to join.
Also please subscribe to our Facebook and Instagram sites too. I post updates on these as well. They are both PeakFitness BJJ.
Team Shorts
We have several sizes (youth and adult) of our team shorts. These shorts are great for working out, no-gi grappling, and just wearing around. The fabric is light weight and four-way stretch, and they look awesome! Not being biased (but of course I am 😊) these are the most comfortable shorts I have had. The manufacture sells these shorts (non-custom) at their website of www.combatcorner.com for $63. I bought the shorts in bulk and was able to get them for $50 a pair.
